| For
those watching the situation closely, the Light Car Club has now been granted approvals to
hold it's Safari Rally.
The Safari will be the final round in the WA State Rally Championship for 2007 and round 5
of the Clubman Rally Series.
Based from the outer metro town of Chidlow, all of the rally's special stages will be in
the Mundaring area.
The 2007 Safari Rally will be a treat for all involved. For competitors, the Safari will
be an opportunity to compete on roads in the area which for the best part of 10 years,
have been the realm of Rally Australia competitors only.
For Perth metro crews and officials the close proximity to Perth will make for less
travelling and logistics.
Spectators have not been forgotten either with 2 spectator points on the Special Stages in
the bush, plus the opportunity to spectate Rally Service, to be held on the Chidlow Oval.
Spectating is free.
The Safari will be a fully pace noted event, with Recce on Saturday the 20th of October
and the actual Rally on Sunday the 21st of October.
The first car is due to start at approximately 9:00 am on Sunday the 21st and the last car
is due to finish at approximately 6:30pm (dependant on entry numbers). Daylight savings
will also be in effect by October.
State competitors will battle the clock over 8 special stages, totalling 160km
competitive, whilst Clubman competitors will run the lesser distance of 80km competitive
on 4 special stages.
Included with each rally entry is two tickets to the presentation dinner, which is to be
held the week after the rally. Extra tickets may be purchased for friends/family/service
crew etc, details of the presentation dinner will be provided when entries are received.
Rally HQ and the service area will be based in Chidlow, spectator instructions will be
available on the day from HQ.
Supp regs and entry forms are being produced now and will be available from the event
secretary Lyn Makin or online shortly at the LCC website: www.lightcarclub.com.au.
Entries open on Monday the 24th of September.
As the event is based in a popular recreation area, the need for officials is high.
Competitors are being asked if with their entry, they are able to provide someone who
would be willing to be a road closure or perform another official duty on the rally. With
the onset of the warmer weather and the closer proximity to Perth, it would also make a
great day for families to be out on the event too.
Of course anyone who would like to be an official for the day is more than welcome. The
officials co-coordinator for the Safari is Hannah Drury.
As with all rallies in the State & Clubman this year, live results will be posted by
Championship/Series supporter Duetime.
Visit: www.duetime.com.au for up to date results, seedings and championship points.
Further details will be posted soon.
